Best food to be left with/left to prepare for 11mth baby

Would like to pick nanny/cm brains here! My twins have a combination of nanny and nursery for childcare, but a often just find myself leaving a vat of stodge out for their tea (cauliflower cheese, mashed veg etc). They were slow to get finger food but they're happy on them now - what are your favourite things to be supplied with or to prepare at that age for an interesting meal? If I'm doing it at home I can just forage in the fridge for things that might be tasty, but understandably my nanny likes to know what she's expected to prepare if I haven't already done it!

Why are you preparing anything?

As a nanny it is my job to make and serve a meal - so finding items in the fridge and cooking it as you say you do - obviously with little ones you know that the steak is not for my charges but I tend to know what I can/can't use and just make something for them.

I agree - I would expect a nanny to be cooking for her charges just as you expect nursery to provide food. If you want some inspiration, pinch the nursery's menu for a week!

Nanny should be able to forage, or suggest things for the shopping list, just as you would.

Interesting responses, thanks. This isn't a criticism of my nanny at all, she's great and will work however suits us. Probably because I work from home mOst of the time I've got into the habit if pottering about with their food when I make my own lunch, but I am finding it a bit of a bind and need some inspiration for things to have in the house that are simple for her to prep (my two ate NOT good at waiting in their high chairs!). Ds also has lactose intolerance (although I've found sone good replacement ingredients he can tolerate) so I tend to send them in with food to nursery as well.

And, quite clearly, I'm a bit of a control freak when it comes to food! Grin

TBH most of my baby charges have eaten what everyone else eats; so lunc would have been left overs from parents supper and for dinner they would have what the older children were having

So; Lasagne, beef stew, roast dinner, Spag bol, Chicken in sauce and rice, pasta etc

Simple suppers would be scrambled egg/beans/spaggeti and toast, soup,

How old are the babies?
