Advice needed please - nanny's return to work post-surgery (Endometriosis)

We have a really lovely nanny who works with us one day per week. Unfortunately, she has been poorly of late with a horrible flare-up of Endometriosis. Her symptoms have been severe enough for her to have time off work.

She's having an "operation" (not entirely sure of the details, although I think a laparoscopy) in the next couple of days and has said that she hopes to be back with us approx. 10 days post-surgery.

Long-shot probably, but does anyone happen to know what the recovery period is likely to be post this procedure? I know she is very keen to get back to work and earning money, but I am equally keen to make sure that she is fit to come back to us and that both she and DC will be safe.

Laparoscopy/Hysteroscopy is usually a day-stay operation (where I work) we usually tell patients to self certify themselves off sick for 1 week and they can see the GP if they feel they need longer. She should be feeling better within 2-3 days and can resume as normal as and when she feels capable. Hope she's feeling better soon.

I had one about 10yrs ago now and it was a day case and got a sick note for 7 days and was perfectly recovered from surgery after that, was a student nurse at the time, so back to work was very busy work and didnt have any problems - although prob working in best place if I did

I have had various ops for endometriosis removal, first I was in for 4 days, the second 3 and the last 5- in Germany so I think they do keep you in longer. I was very sore, and advised against driving for 2 weeks after but it was probably a month before I really felt better. I felt as though I had been scrubbed inside with wire wool! Everyone is different and my endo is severe and in difficult to reach places. She may not know how she feels until after the op so try to encourage her to be flexible and to have some other options in place.
You sound lovely, and I really hope her op works out for her!
