I've decided to do the NVQ 3 even though the thought of study scares me.

I got the opportunity to take the NVQ 3 course and went for the interview this morning. I realise it's something that I need to do and have been accepted. However the wording of the questions is hard. Does anyone have any tips or hints of how to get through the course to make it less scary? I know I can get through it if I put my mind to it.

I thought that the nvq3 had been replaced with the CYPW diploma. Is that what you mean?

Sorry I mean the level 3 diploma.

Remember this is based on the job you are doing
Write up any tutorials as you do them
Have the units with you for refletive learning evidence
You will be fine
Good luck

The Heineman Work-Based Learning, Level 3 Diploma, CYPW Book is a must-have for the course. I would be lost without it. Your work needs to have alot of content and be at A level standard. Some units are more hard going than others. Once you start you'll fall into your own stride. good luck!

Marking my place as I've just signed up too.

Been given my first 'assignment' which is due in September and I haven't even looked at it yet.
I just don't know how I'm going to fit it in with all the other rafts of paperwork I already do for the 23 children I have on my books!
I am looking forward to revisiting some paperwork which probably needs updating anyway such as risk assesments and policies and procedures Grin

Good luck - I'm sure it'll be worth it Hmm

I did the old nvq3 several years ago while working full time as a nursery nurse. I have just graduated with a BA hons in early childhood studies, also gained while working full time. I enjoyed it so much, even though it took 4 years, that I have just been accepted to o the EYP course.
Like you, I was daunted by the thought of studying at my age (45)
Here are my tips

buy the most up to date course book by someone like Jennie Lindon or Tina Bruce

use an online forum to pick people's brains when you get stuck- here or nursery world are very friendly

plan study time so that you don't leave it to the last minute

make sure you meet your deadlines but don't neglect your family

use your tutors if you need them- that's what they get paid for after all

good luck!, I am sure you will find it very enjoyable. Hopefully, like me you will learn loads and use it to improve your practice and improve the care that the children receive
