Hi All,
I have a 12 weeks baby and I plan to get back to work at the earliest. I really need your advice if it's fine to leave such a young baby with a nanny?

What do women usually do if they have to get back to work so early? I want to reassure myself if I am doing the right thing to get back to work so soon. Unfortunately, I don't have any family here who can help me..

And how much does it usually cost to hire a full time nanny.

Thanks

Some nannies will have experience of newborns so a 3-4month old won't be a problem for them.

A full time nanny could cost £30-40k. They may be working a 50-60 hour week.

A lot of nannies specialise/have experience in babies. A cheaper (but qualified and reliable) option is to be apart of a placement year for chiltern/norland nannies (see the websites) which I understand are about £220 pw because it's apart of their course. These nannies will have been trained with babies and their is a lot of support offered by the colleges and they will be able to show you what experience they have and what they have been taught.
I'm a nanny and my rate (live in) is around £400pw net. (about £28,000 per year. I'm about average price Wink so that may give you a price to compare to)

Great, this really helps. I have a question for NotAChocolateRaisin.. Being a nanny yourself, you can guess how precious are the little ones to their parents. I wonder how do you win a parents trust.. I find it really hrd to think to bring back my life to normal. But I know I should step out and connect to be able to to brin all fresh energy to my family.. Though I am quite nervous about the whole thing:)
