Babysitters and Nannies in Woking area

Afternoon! I'm looking for babysitters in the Woking area for the odd evening to look after my 7 month old. Although we've lived in the area for over a year, I don't know any and so far have relied on family! Would really appreciate any recommendations.

Also, slightly separately, I'm considering going back to work in London from January and so have just started researching nursery and nanny options. I think a nanny will give us most flexibility, so again, any pointers on where to start looking would be most welcome. New to Mumsnet.

Thanks in advance!

You could try looking on www.childcare.co.uk, that will help you locate people who live near you.

For recruiting a nanny, www.nannyjob.co.uk and childcare.co.uk are the sites I would look at first. Then I would contact agencies, such as Playtime which is based in Knaphill.
I am not sure how a nanny will be more flexible... the cost of a nanny to care for just one child is huge. However if you need to leave home at say 7am, or even earlier, and you get back at 7pm or later, then a nanny may be your only option as nurseries and childminders may not provide care for those hours, whereas a nanny may work 12 hours a day.

Hi Henry, I'm a nanny in Woking.
I have my own child (11month old boy).

PM me if you would like to ask anything. I am not currently employed.

Hi, I'm new here:) I originally was looking for a mother's help job and I found you:) If someone could give me an advice it would be really helpful. I' m 25 years old, cheerful, nice and I like children. I used to take care of them often and now I have a daughter, she is 3 and a half. I speak English and I divorced so I'm really thinking of going to England to find a job. I'm mostly interested in live-in nanny jobs but I would take my child with me. Do you think I can find a family who would be happy with it? If I find children in similar age I believe they would get on well and have fun. Besides because I have her I know how to deal with a newborn and I'm more experienced that most nannies. What do you think? Can you give me advices where to try?

agnessa22 - it is best to start a new message thread as you are asking about something different to what is being discussed on this message thread. Click this to start a new message thread.
Please include in your message your nationality as that may be important given that you are not currently in England and are considering moving to England to work.

I wanted to share about a really bad experience with forgetmenotnannies - www.forgetmenotnannies.co.uk . I would strongly recommend no one uses this agency.

I live in the woking / horsell area and had a nanny from them for my son for 4 weeks and then the nanny decided to leave. When i contacted forget me not nanny agency they hardly bothered to help. Instead of finding us a replacement nanny they were wanting to charge me £1000 for another nanny as agency fees.

Once the agency gets their commission then they do not bother. Beware of such rogue agencies
