When a child is moving on (some advice)

My Ofsted inspection was due last November, still waiting.

I have a little one who may be moving on in September, need to ask if she will be with me during hols.

I have done lots of work with Learning Journals and Arts and craft display folders. I would love to show Ofsted when they come. How do I stand with this if the little one is no longer with me?

What needs to be passed on to the parents if she is no longer with me?

Thanks in advance.

You should pass them on when they leave but why not ask the parents if you can borrow it or hold onto it until ofsted come?

Thanks for that.

If the child has left then Ofsted will not be interested in the learning journal only the ones from current children with you.

Also Ofsted are only starting their next period of inspections begin of Sept 12. The periods last for about 47 months and you could be inspected anytime during that time.

Could you photocopy it just as evidence of what you've done. Or scan it.

Oh dear. The little one has been with me since just over 12mths old. I have put lots of time into her LJ's and display folders. Thats what I would have shown Ofsted if they had come in November. It would be too much to photocopy the folders.

I have another child but she has not been with me as long.

I will have to wait and see what the parents decide to do.

I do have a another folder with my planning and lots of evidence that I have carried out the work.

As mumlove says, they should only be interested in what you have for the children you care for at the time, not for one who has left. When the child leaves, the LJ should go with them.

Yes, the folder must go with the child unless you have specific permission from the parents to retain copies of some of it to show the inspector. But as others have said, the inspector will only be interested in the materials for the children you are looking after at the time (and will also want to know how you store the information so that parents never see another child's LJ).
