Hi Still thinking about bank holidays. I have never worked one before but would if I was available. Almost did one but cancellation on the day.

what do you charge? Is £6-£7.00 the going rate.

Do you ask for a deposit? or full payment? what happens if they cancel?

What other things do i need to consider?

I want to put this info in my newsletter for all my parents to see.

Thank you for your time, much appreciated.

Im not a CM but if i was a CM I would probably rmcharge time and a half (ie normal rate of £5 per hour would make Bank Hol rate £7.50 per hour).. I would also probably charge a minimum of 3hours regardless of if they sent their child or they cancelled!

Hope this helps x

I don't normally work or charge BH , but if I was asked and available, I would charge double time, payable in advance.

I work bank holidays if asked and charge my normal daily rate plus 20% - £60. All my fees are payable in advance and I ask for two weeks' notice.

Nice one.

You ask for payment in advance, what if its cancelled on the day, what would you do?

If it's cancelled on the day then I would still charge. Just as if they let you know on a normal day that for whatever reason they won't be bringing their child that day. It's best to get all this set up in advance, though, so everyone knows where they are and the parents know what to expect. You could specify that if it's been booked then you will need at least 2 working days notice (or as many as you want) if they want to cancel and get a refund.

You could also do it on a retainer basis. £30 to hold the day, which gets paid no matter what, then another £30 if it's used.

Have a paid day off (or be a big wuss and refund the money).

Thanks everyone.

Bank Holidays need to be book atleast one week in advance.

I think I will charge a deposit to hold the day.

48 Hours needed to cancel or depoist is non refundable.

Thinking about charging £6 per hour.
