As a childminder i have always charged full pay for when a child attends playgroup session 9 am - 12.... Due to the fact that the child would be in my care for those hours during the school holidays and ted days.... And my spaces are available as Full time only...
Does anyone else do different??? and why????

I have a half day rate and a full day rate. If I'm expected to drop at nursery and pick up and keep child until tea time then it's charged at the full day rate. If I've to look after child in am and drop at nursery at lunchtime but not collect later then it's a half day. I'm about to have possibly difficult chat with one of my parents who I overheard telling someone else is looking forward to her "childcare bills halving when her dd starts nursery". Not if she's expecting me to take her to nursery and pick her up they won't.

Mine seep to expect me to take to playgroup... collect at 12.... then keep until 5 and don't want to charge for the 3 playgroup hours... I'm a very competitive price in my area and my hourly charge includes all drinks and meals... I have explained that i don't do a half day from 12 until 5 as my 3 places for under 5's are very valuable... Also there are the school holidays ... where will the child go between the playgroup times when playgroup are closed??? They want me to cover then.... I feel justified in my charges....

Just wondered if others did the same... ( i don't know anyone in my area who does it for free... Some are half pay... but they charge more per hour and do'nt include food!!!!)

I used to manage a private after school club and had the same kind of issue if the children were attending a school run extra curricular activity so needed picking up an hour after school ended.
I still charged from the time school ended as they were 'paying for the place not the attendance'.

I don't know who they thought would pay for staff to wait around to do the late pick up or to be there whenever the school activity was cancelled Confused.

Berkshire. I tell parents they pay for my availability. DH says it's like not using your hotel room all night and asking for a discount.
