Any Scottish childminders around for advice?

Its a long story but basically, if i didn't receive a Certificate of Registration does that mean i am not registered?

Went through the registration process last year, had a visit to inspect premises then received letter to say we are granting registration please sign and send back, which i did by recorded delivery.

In the meantime found out i was pregnant again, already have 2 under 5's. My registration was for 4 under 12 so i felt it would be best to wait until after baby was born until i actually got started.
Now that i am looking into it all i realise i have no certificate that i should have. Also just read on SCMA website that should get a 12 week inspection aswell which would have been due ages ago.
It isn't looking very good is it?

Hiya,i'm in Scotland too but not sure about what you are asking.if you returned the letter i would say you are registered.Have you tried to phone them?I have never had a proper certiticate since the Care Commission took over.i only have a temporary one and it doesn't say proper numbers on it.Not too sure about 12 week inspection thing either but i have been registered for a long time so maybe a new thing?I would phone tho and ask them to send out certificate asap as yopu want to get started now.hth

Thanks agalch. I read on SCMA that care commission give a certificate to show/display to parents/carers so now i'm thinking that i don't have 1 so must not be registered. It took so long to get to the point of registration (approx 6 months) with lots of calls to cc to hurry things up that i don't want to be back at the start IYKWIM.
Sorry probably not making a lot of sense. Will contact them 2morrow.

I do think if you sent the letter back you are registered.I would go ahead and tell prospective clients you are waiting for your certificate.Tell me to naff off if you want but where in Scotland are you? I'm in Livingston btw.let me know how you get on with the CC tomorrow.

I'm in fife. Spoke to a lady i know who was in the process of registering recently cos she phoned me for adviceBlush and she received her certificate before even sending back the conditions of registration.

My previous contact with the CC has not been great so i'm not looking forward to it, always appears like no one has a clue! As the inspection lady also told me when they have busy times then things can take forever.
Thanks for your support agalch

I'm in Fife as well. When i first registered, it took ages (even thought i had been minding in England) and if i remember correctly, i didn''t get a certificate straight away.
I had my inspection, then the 12 week one, and i'm pretty sure that i had to wait months for my certificate to come through.
The CC are awful. Seb1, i checked that list you linked to, and i'm not even on it!
I have my inspection today, so will need to ask about it
