CM fees question for half days when starting school

Am hoping some of the CMs can help with a question I have re CM fees.

My 2 dds have been with our brilliant CM for coming up for a year. DD1 has just finished her pre-school year at the nursery attached to the school she will starting in August (we are in Scotland, she will be starting in P1). We happily pay a full day fee for dd1 - as I understood it - the full day charge was because my daughter was taking up a full time pre-school place even though she was at school nursery 2.5 hours a day.

P1 starts with 4 weeks of half days and I thought there would be a reduced charge for those 4 weeks since she's no longer taking up a full time pre-school place but rather a school age place. I've just had my revised fees through and the charge is still for full time days until dd1 starts full days.

I'll quite happily pay the full day fee if that is the norm but I wanted to check my understanding of how the ratios of children work was correct and what other CMs would charge for half days at the start of reception or P1.

Thanks for your help!

I would charge full fee until the child starts full time school. They don't move into the next age band until then.

I only reduced the payments once Ds was at school full time.

I also charge full days until their first full day at school as they are counted as preschoolers in our ratios until then.

I would charge full too as they don't move up in ratios til they are full time.

Thanks everyone for clarifying! I think I got a bit over-excited at the thought of a slightly reduced childcare fee Blush.

Thanks again for your help Smile
