Hi Everyone

Ofsted was due last November. Still waiting. Doing things whilst I am waiting.

Has anyone got a check list they use to ensure they dont forget anything?

Thanks Smile

I am CM with a 10 year old mindee.

He would like to go out and play with his friends whilst in my care. On the street/ surrounding streets.

Mum asked about it when they visited. I thought about it and said no.

Does anyone else allow their older mindees to play out like this?

I am v worried about the repercussions should something happen to him and being reported to Ofsted.

I think if they're coming soon they will want to know as well as the usual stuff that you're fully up to speed on the revised EYFS - mobile phone policies in place, that sort of thing.

MaryPoppinsBag no worries.

Thanks ZuleikaD

Just had my inspection last week.......

Ensure you KNoW the procedure for reporting abuse.
If your toys are not all out with free access have a list available to show the resources you have.
I do a daily risk assessment checklist showing I make sure house is safe every day... She liked this
I also have a 'with list' of resources I want and she liked this too.
You need to show you are a reflective practitioner too..... I do a daily diary with what was good/bad etc and I wrote a review of my practice and picked three things I want to improve or change (long/medium/short term) this got me an outstanding in this area!
I was graded good with 5 areas of outstanding!

Good luck. Would also say that I sorted my files so they were self explanatory and it meant ofsted lady could find what she wanted and I could play. I also cooked lunch the night before and put it in microwaveable lidded tubs so I was able to give lunch without too much faff!!!!!

Ooooo was also told that in September they are looking more importantly at how you interact with the children rather than the paperwork and she did say if I'd been inspected under new rules I'd have got more outstandings :0)

Nice one Bonkerz Grin

Was Ofsted on time or late?

How long was your visit?

OP posts:
Bonkerz · 25/07/2012 15:31

I was only told they would come Tuesday or Wednesday and if they hadn't arrived by 10am they wouldn't be coming. She turned up about 9;40 on the Tuesday and left just before 1pm

Bonkerz · 25/07/2012 15:34

And I made her sign my guest book and wrote down her I'd number from her card and also when I made her a coffee I reiterated to her the importance of keeping it out of reach Wink also at nappy changing time she asked to come with me and I said that it was fine but only because I recognise that she is crb checked and that I wouldn't allow any other guest to follow me Wink cheeky? Yes probably but she commented on my high standards of safeguarding in the report so she must have liked it Grin

ZuleikaD · 26/07/2012 05:48

Yes, you should always check the inspector's ID and make them sign in. I don't give them coffee! They need to come on a day when you have a mindee, so when they phone to say they're coming 'next week' you can limit their options and give yourself a bit more certainty by saying that next week you only have a mindee on Wednesday and Friday (for example). Mine followed me upstairs at nappy/nap time except by the time she got up the stairs I'd done the nappy and mindee was down.

MUM2BLESS · 27/07/2012 16:34

Talking about guest book. What needs to be in it?

I have not got one. I will get one for September.

Who signs it?

Thanks for that.

Anyone who comes to the house while you're working should sign in. It's another of the measures that's there to protect you in case something comes up later.

Do parents need to sign all registers?
