Where do you advertise for a Nanny?

Hi all,

I've been utilising gumtree over the last couple of weeks, searching for my next live-in Nanny job but they all seem to want either a Nanny in exchange for free accommodation or an Au-pair. (or in one case, an explicit sexual invitation in reply to my gumtree ad - check it out, i don't seem to be x-rated do I? www.gumtree.com/p/jobs/looking-for-a-live-in-nanny/107125717)

Is there a site where it's more common for people looking for Nanny's at the going rate rather than £100-£150 a week? (in London)

Thanks all!!
x

I wouldn't use GumTree - I'd stick with a dedicated child-care related site, preferably one where I could read testimonials from previous families etc.

Not in london and have never had a nanny so obviously my opinion isn't worth loads!!

I used childcare.co.uk, I found my nanny within a day and had lots of enquiries. It only cost £20 ish to join but allows you to put in an advert and to contact local people looking for work. It's brilliant Smile

Sorry, I read it as though you were a parent looking for a nanny for some reason Grin . I would still use it if I was a nanny looking for work. My nanny is only doing the after school part of the day (3 hours) and I'm paying her £160 per week so you might find something better on there. Good luck.

Check out the agencies and register with them - Kensington Nannies, Nannies of St James and Swansons I thought were all excellent (as a parent).

I also placed an ad for a live in nanny on nannyjob.co.uk (which is where all the agencies advertise anyway!). Nannies can also put their CVs up there too.

My sister is looking for a live in nanny in West London if you want to pm me your CV.

Jenny - eden and imperial nannies are good.

also try the forum on nappy valley . net

I've contacted a few agencies and am in the process of registering with them. Currently waiting for a call back from Kensington nannies (thanks for the recommendation!)

Nannyjob seems a good one though I'm struggling to navigate around childcare.co.uk

I got a recommendation from the NCT for www.simplychildcare.com/ but i am fairly new to this myself as a parent. Reckon you'd be safe from the propositions on there at least! Good luck..

Try agencies! They always have lots of jobs!
