Which is the best place to find overnight nannies? Has anyone used 'tinies'?

when you say 'overnight nannies' - do you mean a maternity nurse?

Or an overnight nanny for proxy parenting every now and again / adhoc work... or...?

Stepmumm · 17/07/2012 17:49

Not a maternity nurse, a nanny to look after the kids so we can have a night away Wink

so a proxy parent :)

I'm a self employed proxy parent :)

How old are your children and what area (approx) are you in?

Stepmumm · 17/07/2012 21:16

Iluvkids, shropshire way at the moment

Too far for me.

You could try www.childcare.co.uk

Tinies currently have a role which includes proxy parenting in your area
www.nannyshare.co.uk/childcare-jobs-uk/preview-job/12874/nanny-live-out-cheshire.html
to give you an idea of p.parenting rates.

www.nannyjob.co.uk/submitavacancy
is a good place to advertise

Thanks, i looked at using childcare.co.uk - but there's a fee to use it. But if its a genuine, recommended site I'll look again.

Myself and many nanny friends have gained positions using it.

You can always look through the local nannies and only pay if there is someone you really want to contact - (if they give their full name on their profile you can probably also find another way of contacting them...)

Thanks, do you think its something that people will want to do - I guess we're looking for maybe one or 2 evenings a month, 7pm - 11. And maybe an overnighter once every couple of months, school pick up till midday? Would that be enough for someone?

To be honest, I do proxy parenting combined with holiday nannying / temp nannying - so for example last week I had one weeks holiday nanny work which included 2 days of proxy parenting... I tend to take one off bookings - just lots of very short bookings (which i get mainly through an agency) - hence self employed...

Sounds to me that what you need is quite different - in terms of the regularity, but realistically, it shouldn't be too hard to find a nanny / proxy parent capable of doing the babysitting once or twice a month, then the proxy parenting every couple of months - - - i guess if they are in a part time perm nanny position and your proxy parenting can be over their free days .....

I luv kids - are there good agencies you can recommend to look at? What qualifications should they have? I guess ultimately we may look to use them during school holidays instead of holiday clubs. I used to use a friends niece with an informal arrangement, however, I don't know anyone in our current area. We just want someone reliable and sensible so we can go out once in a while!
