Children in other setting (please read, thanks)

I have got a child in other settings policy. (would consider revising this!)

I drop off at nursery, but not pick up one child I have at present, as I do another school run with my children and other children (not on call). Please can you let me know what you are doing re child who is taken to pre school and nursery by yourself. You are on call if needed. Do you charge full fee or half fee or do you charge from when you leave out and when you drop off at the setting, then leave out to pick up again.

I know some cm charge full fee due to the place being taken up by the child in the other setting. What if you have spaces and the child attending other setting does not affect your quota?

What did you consider when making up your mind?

Just want to look at the different ways of dealing with this.

Thanks

If I drop a child off and collect I charge while they are at playgroup, if I just drop off or just collect I charge only when I have the child. If a child is old enough to not affect your numbers they must be a school age child and therefore I would only charge my before and after school rate. Hope this helps

Thank you for that. What reaction did you get from the parents?

Has anyone else done anything different?

If I have a child any part of the day I charge my full daily fee .

the parents where fine, I just explained they are paying to hold the place, if playgroup is ever shut or they need holiday care then they need to secure the space needed for thier child.

Used to have a policy for this when I CM'd it is on here somewhere, I will see if I can find it.

UNDER 5?S IN OTHER SETTINGS

A child is counted as an under 5 by Ofsted until they are in full time education i.e. at school for 10 sessions a week.

A child who is at pre school is a under 5 and if they are with a childminder before and after pre school, and require a fulltime space during the holidays they therefore are taking a childminders full time space. As such you are required to pay retainer fee/full time fee (delete as applicable) for the time that they are at preschool, as the childminder cannot then fill the part time that they are at pre school.

I charge full fees when a child is at pre-school or nursery.i am the one responsible for dropping off and collecting the child, and,as I am usually nearer than where the parents work, its usually me who gets a call if the child is not well. Its almost impossible to fill a space for 2 hours so parents pay to hold that space.None of the parents have never had a problem with it.
