Hi my son is due to leave his childminder at the end of the school term. He has been with her since he was 5 (can't believe where the time has gone!) I just wanted some advice as to what sort of gift I can buy. I normally buy chocs, flowers etc for christmas but seeing as he is actually leaving I thought it would be nice to getting something else. So what pressie would you live to receive/or do you like, any ideas appreciated thank you Smile

I don't expect to receive anything when children leave but if a parent really wanted to give me something then these are the things I would most like ...

  • A card made by your son or a letter written by you expressing your appreciation. Perhaps something that could be shown to prospective parents in the future.
  • A bottle of wine
  • Amazon gift voucher. £10-15 would be plenty, I would be very embarrassed to receive anything above £20.
  • A pretty binder stuffed full of dividers and plastic sleeves with a note in the front along the lines of "Hope this helps with all the paperwork". Actually I would be pretty amazed if a parent gave me something like this.
  • A food present, like a small cheese board or some good quality tea/coffee/hot chocolate.
  • Something for the setting, like some nice children's books.
  • A small presents for the childminder's children (if they are still little). Once a mum gave a book to each of my own children. I thought this was lovely as they have to share their toys with the mindee so it was nice for them to get something in return.

I prefer things that can be used up as I have so little storage space. Every inch of my house is already filled with toys and other childminiding paraphernalia!
