I have never had a late payer until recently it's now the third (fortnightly in advance ) payment that has been late, a week late today. I email and text to remind he blames her she blames him, it may not be loads but I need it. They both have good jobs and work full time. Why do people feel they can just get away with it :((

Because we let them. Write late fees policy and include a hefty late payment fee. Make them sign it. Then make sure you charge late fees when they are late. I can guarantee they won't forget next time!

Got all that and have charged it every time they are oblivious lol

It's a sad sign of the times, but (some) people aren't being difficult, families really are struggling. Ultimately it's up to you if you want to continue doing business with them.

I work in a school and there has been a massive increase in dinner money owed, breakfast club arrears, trips not paid for and (where the trip is not considered educational) children unable to go because parents can't pay Sad

In the last week I've had 2 mums tell me dad's already paid, 2 who are paying tomorrow (but didn't) and one cheque in the post when they're at the school every day Hmm

We've also had a lot of people disputing what is owed and a couple claiming to have paid when they haven't which was unheard of until recently.

Agree apotomac.

Condover see your points but if you can't pay for groceries at the supermarket then they don't let you have them.

If you can't pay for a service don't use it.

This isn't like a child not going on a school trip, it's a cms mortgage and bills.

Condover · 09/07/2012 21:32

It isn't, which is why the childminder has a choice as to whether they want to keep the client, but the reasons the family can't pay are the same and on the increase, which was my point

Not being unkind really I'm not I know people are struggling, we are!!!! But brand new BMW designer clothing doesn't seem to me like parents are short of pennies Sad

Totally agree condover it's just that the horrible parents who messed me around for years and paid late or not at all were just like stoney666 describes.

Kids in designer clothes and nice cars, mom turned up once pleading poverty but had clearly had her hair done that day!!!

The struggling parents always seemed to manage to pay.

Stoney666 · 09/07/2012 22:44

It's not even that they don't pay it's that they feel they can pay a week later than when it should be paid and they don't even offer an excuse it's rude.
