London nanny - £10 net per hour?

North London, zone 2, 40 hour week over 4 days.

How does £10 per hour NET sound for a reasonably experienced nanny? Would this be paying towards the top end of market or is it average? Just wanted to get your thoughts.

Thanks.

No idea about nanny prices but that's the going rate for a cleaner where I live. Doesn't seem right. Shock

I make that £12.92 gross, based on 810L taxcode.

For someone experienced, local to you, sounds about right for London based on what I read on here and other places.

However it's an employers market at the moment I feel - lots of people looking for jobs. So work out what you want to pay someone to do the job... then offer that salary.

Agree a Gross Salary... start lower so that you can then give a pay rise later once you find out how things go.

OP, I am a zone 2 North London nanny and this is what I am paid. Where are you based? Currently looking for a new challenge...!

Gallicgirl, cleaners don't work 40 hours a week for one employer though... And that's net remember, with tax, NI and employers NI it'll work out about 13.50 an hour to the employer. Plus if course most employers give other perks such as petrol allowance or car to use and food while at work. Which cleaners don't get.

I'm in West London and £10net ph has been the going rate for an experienced nanny for a while. Nick is right about it being an employers market atm though, so you could probably offer less and still find someone good.

gallicgirl, you will also find it's a shedload higher than nurseries pay for the same quals.
