Help with a gift for my amazing childminder (end of term)

I have found the most amazing childminder. My daughter has been going to her for around 6 months now, she is now 1. I have no family really to help so she has been a complete lifesaver, and I trust her and love her to bits.

Its the end of term for them soon and she does not work school holidays.

I really want to show how much i appreciate all she has done for me and my daughter.

If there are any childminders on here what would you welcome as a gift, or would a bonus be insulting.

Just wondering what you have been given in the past, or what you have found useful.

Tia x

a bonus is great imo Smile vouchers are also nice if there are for something useful, maybe a restaraunt or a shop you know she likes - john lewis or similiar? Smile

We gave our marvelous childminder an engraved plant box from www.plantabox.co.uk/webshop/planter-crates/
We planted some flowers in it as well. She was really chuffed, as she's a keen gardener. It's something that she can keep and treasure forever, I hope :)

A bonus goes down well, as well x

How lovely. I'm sure she wouldn't expect anything. But it's so nice to receive an unexpected gift. A nice card written with some kind words. Nice to keep to look back on. A gift voucher is a treat. Always goes down well with me! I'm sure whatever you decide it will be gratefully received.

RosieGirl · 06/07/2012 21:20

How lovely of you.

Anything would be appreciated. A plant for the garden, bottle of wine, nice smelly's.

I've had quite a few gifts over the past 10 years, but especially loved the gift vouchers for a facial/treatment. As its only the end of term, she probably wouldn't expect anything, so I'm sure she will be absolutely delighted with whatever you choose. I had a mindee leave last week (moving away) after having her for over two years, I didn't even get a thank you card!!. Mum & mindee both received card and gifts for their new home from me.

ReetPetit · 06/07/2012 21:45

how rude mizzy Sad i had one leave without so much as a thankyou once!!

It's the thought that counts, but a voucher would be a safer bet than a gift. I'm not very keen on chocolates (I know, not normal!) and a lot of smellies give me a rash, so I wouldn't really enjoy those, even if I did appreciate the generous impulse behind them. I do love flowers but at the end of term might not be the best time to give them if she may be going away and not have time to enjoy them.

Fantastic shop of Folksy called Goozeberry Hill... stamped spoons, so so amazing and personal! Can choose the message. I have bought 2 from them and they are just gorgeous

God those spoons are cheesy. Sorry Titchyboomboom!

Give her a bonus or a voucher. She will be delighted.

Does she like food - obv she eats but if like me I love my food and enjoy nice food as a treat and maybe something like a hamper of food from abel and cole organic food company or similar - only know them as use them for treats!!

I find an honest and sincere thank you works really well for me ...I value praise much more than a present..just my opinion! but your present will be welcome too....an excellent thank you is also writing references that she can treasure in her portfolio!

HSMM · 07/07/2012 22:35

I have a child just about to leave after 5 years working with the family and they have given me a week extra money and a splendid reference. I am very happy.

After 6 months a note of reference saying how happy you are would be fab for me. Anything else would be a bonus. You sound lovely.

A really nice card with nice words in it always means alot. Personally I like to receive flowers, wine or maybe a voucher (a manicure or pedicure).
