What documents should I ask new nanny to provide?

I'd like her to bring originals of her passport, driving licence, Ofsted Registration, first aid certificate, public liability insurance, childcare qualifications, document showing address. Anything else I am missing?
Thanks

Car insurance documents - and check that she has business use to cover her driving your children around.

Is this someone you've already hired or are interviewing? I'd want to make sure that I had proof of identity, proof of address, valid CRB and valid first aid certificate at interview stage. If you've already employed, what will you do if there are any holes in this.

Oh and are childcare qualifications relevant? I'd say experience and good references are more important. For OFSTED reg, NVQ level 2 in childcare is required, as is first aid certificate, insurance and it includes a CRB check, so a valid OFSTED reg certificate covers a lot of these. Bear in mind that if your nanny is applying for OFSTED reg for your job, it can take around 3 months from OFSTED receiving ALL of the paperwork.

Thanks. I had sight of most of the documents at interview stage, but now I'd like to take copies. She has Ofsted registration, so I guess if that covers the first aid, CRB etc, that would be fine. I don't think she has mentioned having public liability insurance.. not sure if she had to have that in place BEFORE getting registered...

To get ofsted reg you just need to do a couple of day courses. I looked into this when considering employing my cleaner

P45 if she had a previous job? I think you'll need to send it to the payroll provider if you're going to use one.

If ofsted she will have insurance as that's part of the process

The one thing you must by law check is evidence of her right to work in the UK - normally her passport if a citizen of the EU or Switzerland (and you should keep a copy of the back page to evidence that you have seen it). More details on this, known as the 'statutory excuse' because it 'excuses' you from paying a fine for not checking, on Business Link.

If she cannot give you a P45 and you have not already spoken to a payroll company, get her to fill in a P46.

Note that you do not have to have insurance in place to get Ofsted registration.

If no public liability insurance at this stage, it needs to be there for first day of work. It can be arranged over the phone so easy to arrange.

First aid expires so ask to see that and make a note of expiry date / issue date (add 3 years to get expiry date).

She won't necessarily have first aid or insurance if she's OFSTED registered. They ask for it, but don't bother to check that you actually have it! Particularly in the case of it being renewed, as long as you pay your £103 they renew it regardless of whether your first aid is in date or your insurance has been renewed.
