Funding for 2yr olds in September?

Hi everyone - my lo had her 2 yr check the other day and the HV mentioned that come September there might be funding available for 2yr olds right across the board but couldn't elaberate as there was nothing official being released.

Has anyone else come across this or have any idea of what is happening? its just that this might make it affordable for me to go back to work part time (we have 6m old too) which l would love to do.

Thanks :)

Lots of interest. I haven't made any lists yet

You need to phone your local council and they will tell you. It differs council to council at the moment though I believe the govt will be bringing in standardised eligibility based on free school meals criteria from Sept 2013.

Thought it was just on trial in 10 areas in London ? A few 2 year olds can get it if they meet certain criteria .

I would be surprised if it was this coming September for everywhere as these places can't be created by magic, many areas have very full Early Years settings as it is.

It's all a bit up in the air, most areas have some 2 year old funding but it usually for exceptional cases if parents have health issues or social services have concerns etc, other areas are trialling places for those with an income below a certain level which could become a catch-22 if it is used to let a parent go out to work.

Thanks everyone - will keep an eye out - have tried council yesterday and they 'couldn't comment on something that wasn't already in place' - Thanks council!
