I am looking to get a VW Transporter shuttle either the 8 or 9 seat version and would like to ask if anyone already has one and who do they use for insurance?

Contact Bell who are part of the Admiral Group. We have an 8-seater car, & they have provided us with a decent quote, which we have taken up.

I have got an Admiral multicar policy with my DH - I rang up last month to change my old Ford Focus to my new S Max and add that I am a childminder on to the policy and it cost me an extra £50 for changing the car and £2.50 to add my business usage. I was pleasantly surprised.

Last year was Morton Michael as they were the best quote and as they are childminder specialists, they also offer a like for like car (I have an 8 seater), however the renewal was more than I could afford and I saved hundreds by doing the comparison websites - ended up with Shelia's Wheels. Lots of cover, just not the like for like replacement car but I decided that IF I ever needed it for a reason that the insurance company would offer it for, I'd just hire a car instead, wasn't worth paying the few hundred extra imo!

I'll second Shelia's Wheels, knocked hunderds of other quotes, but get it through Compare the Market and you get a free Meerkat - too cute!

Another vote for admiral here

Yes, I missed out on the meercat thanks to Sheila's Wheels calling me direct after seeing my search. I got the same quote but as hadn't gone through the site (which I'd used for my search), I didn't get it :(

Thanks for the replies. Off to view the Transporter at weekend, very excited. I have an 8 seater already and wanted another 8 but the 9 came up so thought it might be worth taking a look as I have 2 staff so it means we could go out in one car instead of two. Thanks again.

i drive a minibus-and anything with 9 seats or over is classed as a minibus which changes your insurance dramatically.I pay nearlt £800 pounds a year with Morton Michel and I have a clean license and full no claims. So if you can manage with 8 seats then do!!

tigersmum · 14/06/2012 21:11

I got the insurance down to £555, which is a lot less than the 8 seat 807 I drive at the moment.
