I've noticed what quesstions you need to ask a cm, but what lead you to chose the right one for you.

I think it was that, when we went to chat to her, with dd, we sat on the sofa and she sat on the floor to play with dd , whilst talking to us! The others that we had visited were much more formal.
She's not brilliant with paperwork, but dd loved her and was very happy with her extra family, which was what was important to us.

been different things with each of the 3 CM's Ds has been minded by over the years.

CM 1 - she had space for an under 1 on the mornings I needed, house was clean , no dog, polite teen age sons, and there would be 2 toddler mindees at same time, which I thought my 10 month old crawler would like. Just off DHs route to work.

CM 2 - a friend who's toddler son was same age as DS , a CM who took kids to toddler group and on the school run for their primary age son and to the park. House clean, and on DHs way to work.

CM3 - I need occasional after school and holiday CMing, this CM offers just that. DS likes them (was his keyworker at preschool).I like their teenage son. Most of the holiday mindees are boys. house is often a bit messy, lots of wellies in hall. lots of trips to the park or walking the dog, splashing in stream or playing football. This is not a CM I would have asked to have DS at 10 months, or at 22 months, but is just fine for a 4+ yr old. Off route for DH, but does do school pick up.
