Imperial and Eden, yes. Both seem on the ball to me, I'm with any number of agencies and most are useless. It's worth looking into local agencies too, I find smaller agencies easier to deal with, they seem to want to get to know you more so put you forward to better suited jobs.

I'd recommend scanning all documents, CRB, first aid etc so you can send them to agencies.

And to be honest use Gumtree, nannyjob, greatcare, childcare.co.uk, netmums. Almost every job I've had has come through gumtree.

As a nanny I really rate Tinies

Another vote for Tinies (I'm a parent). Very professional service and an excellent calibre of candidates sent through to us for interview.

Imperial, Kensington Nannies, Eden, A-star, nannies of st James. In my experience. I am a Nanny. I was very surprised the first time I interviewed with agents as I expected them to ask me challenging questions and assess my abilities. Really they just ask you (or fill in a form) "What London postcodes?" "Will you work with pets/live in or out/clean/travel with family..." Then they copy all your documents, then it's all over. Register with several agents (no harm, gives you more chances). As Ginevra said scan all your paperwork as every agent needs proofs of lots of different things, check what they need before you go there. Good Luck.

Halcyon were great for finding our nanny

I found my Nanny through Imperial Nannies - they were fantastic. They first found me a temporary Nanny to take the pressure off me as the Nanny I hired through a website turned out to be a nightmare and have now found an equally wonderful permanent Nanny for my son.
They really listened to my requirements and managed to find the perfect match for us. The agency fee is on the pricey side but definitely worth it.
Have recommended them to all my NCT buddies and friends
