I use a side by side double buggy (don't know which make without looking), the narrow sort that fits through a doorway. It has a double hood and therefore has the kind of raincover you can just fold up and put underneath in the basket which is very handy.It also folds up neatly and lays nicely on the floor of my fiat ulysses and then my single buggy fits on top of it. My friend who is also a CM bought a tandem which she likes but it doesn't fit quite so neatly into the back of her galaxy.

I use a babydan double buggy it doesn't fit through my front door but it does fit through others and I can get it on the bus. I found a tandem really heavy to push but I know a few minders that use them. One minder I know has one of these these and it's brilliant it only takes up the space of a single.

You might be best trying a few out in mothercare or toysrus.

hi i use a kiwi explorer(old version of e3) this means i have a single and a double as i don't need the double every day. hth

I use a Graco Tandem Duo when I need to, although not at moment as have 2 who walk & one in a Mamas & Papas P3 single. Not sure when I will go back to tandem, might be soon as the 3 yr old leaves next week & don't know who is replacing him yet.
Have tried side by sides in the past but find them difficult in shops & can't get them past the front door due to a narrow hall & protruding stairs.Although I can get the tandem through ok.

I use a Marco Sky, a Quinny Zapp for in the car and a Mutsy Urban Rider with carrycot, lay flat car seat, seat unit and duo seat to cover all eventualities.

I use a Jane Powertwin tandem pushchair at moment. I find it very light and easy to push just a little bit fiddly if I want to attach baby car seat. I also have a couple of M&P single puschairs when I use my Zafira to full capacity seat wise as I can just about squeeze two singles in as well.

Jackmummy · 22/02/2006 16:57

I use a Graco stadium duo tandem buggy. It's good as I can also attach a buggy board to the back. However the best thing has to be that you can fit a Graco car seat into the back seat... so handy!
Also loads of room underneath for baby bits etc.
Only down side is that it pretty much fills the boot of my car.

mumo75 - i used to have a \link{http://www.mothercare.com/invt/lx1337&bklist=icat,4,shop,shopushchairs,pus2seaters\tandem} which weighed a tonne, without kids in, and took up loads of room in my galaxy, The only good point of it was that it was easy to manouvere through doors and around shops.
Sold that one and have replaced it with \link{http://www.mamasandpapas.co.uk/product_details.php?id=1803689&type=I\twin}
Mamas and papas twin aria, very lightweight, ideal for younger children, i have in the past used it with 2, 3 yr olds which was a little tough, but it is much lighter and fits easier in my car. The only downside is it doesn't fit through doors or shops as easily, but i still prefer it to the first one.

Hope that helps. Are you currently childminding??

mumo75 · 14/03/2006 11:55

no i am a foster carer who can"t make up her mind whether to use a tandem or side by side????

i'd say it depends on the age of the children. if they are both young and still at the age where they might need to lie down to have a nap, get a side by side. if one or both is older then a tadem.
