Mum is a student and has childcare paid by student finance. However in July and August she is going away so wont need me to look after the child and student finance wont pay.
She cannot afford to pay me out of her own money, so she is proposing that she pay me for all of June but not actually bring the child, to go some way to make up for the fact that I will be losing the lions share of my monthy income in July/August. Is this dodgy?
She would have to pay me in arrears as well, and then I would have to fill in a form stating that I ahve been paid for childcare in June. I feel like shes paying me to retain the place but dont know if student finance would see it differently. Not sure how they would find out that she hadnt brought her though.
If we dont do it this way, I wont get paid for 3 months. She didnt realise it works this way, so when she comes back in September we are going to renegotiate the contract, but until then...is this allowable? I mean, quite often she will bring the child late, or some days not at all and noone knows or investigates do they. In fact, I might say can I have her some days anyway, because frankly...I will miss her!
I will still be down on money, but at least I will have some more free time. What do you think?

Of course it's "dodgy", though fraudulent would be the official description..

I think it is dodgy why not ask the college being honest is always best policy

also you have to remember you are running a business I know you have to get along with the parents and do your best for the children but what would you do if a family came along next week and said ok we want full time space from 2wks time to start and took up your available space - or needed this little girls space - as a business you really would be silly to turn it down but as a caring human being I bet you would turn it down in favour of not wanting to upset this lady and cause disruption to her child.

sorry prob havent helped but do see how difficult a situation it is -

Yes it's dodgy and yes they could
Investigate and you would have to repay.
I would rework the contract doing a yearly fee and then divide that to monthly over 9 months that way you still get paid as college would pay more iyswim
