voucher company want a copy of my certificate?

I am a cm and I got an email yesterday from Computer Share Vouchers saying that during a routine audit they couldn't confirm my registration with ofsted and they had suspended my account until they received a copy of my certificate. I emailed back and told them they had made a mistake, that my registration was valid and I wasn't sending them anything. Then I got an email this morning saying they had confirmed my registration but they still needed to see my certificate?

They didn't have to see my certificate when I registered with them but now they are saying it is their policy. I have had contact with 2 other voucher companies, 1 as a cm and 1 as a parent using vouchers and neither of them needed to see the certificates.

Has anyone else heard of this? For some reason this is making me uncomfortable, aibu?

Apart from anything else it is a cost and an inconvenience that I can't be bothered with.

I had to email a scanned copy of my certificate to Edenred. Didn't think twice about it to be honest....

In Scotland ours is now emailed to us using eform system this is also the system we do our annual return and self assessment on. So I had to print my own certificate to display in my house. I just printed off another copy last week to send away with a registration form to say care voucher company. I think its Pretty standrad to do tht

Hi

I uase computershare too and also sent my reg {im in wales}...it is perfectly acceptable to them they need it to confirm who you are....you could be someone else with your reg number...

ElizabethDarcy · 24/05/2012 16:43

It's the norm... they have to ensure you are a registered childminder... if you are not they cannot allow vouchers.

I've always been asked to do this when registering. Don't see what the problem is as people could get hold of your registration no easily if they wanted to.

marcopront · 25/05/2012 02:30

I agree with the others why is it a problem?
I think it is a good thing, it stops unregistered childminders using vouchers.

Octaviapink · 25/05/2012 06:44

Yes, I've had to send them a copy of mine too. Didn't think twice about it.

PositiveOutlook · 25/05/2012 07:27

Thanks for the replies, I will get it done this weekend now I know it is common practice.

It isn't a problem as such, I just don't have a soft copy or means to scan so it means making a hard copy to send. As I am very pregnant at the moment with very little energy or money, it is a chore I could do without.

Cheers, have a good day :-)

Yes I did the same with one of the voucher companies.

Flisspaps · 25/05/2012 13:35

Daft as it sounds, can you take a photo of it and send that by email? DH was able to do that with his driving licence when his new employer needed extra ID to process his CRB form!
