Do I need to do anything if I was told by an Ofsted inspector on my first inspection that she will give me 2 or 3 recommendations?

Is only something that was suggested and I do not have to do it if I do not want to or if I do not do it on the next inspection they will require to see what I have done about it. (buy more toys - I am flooded with toys, but for her wasn't enough (you cover all the 6 areas of the development but that is not enough toys) provide resources for all the cultures and languages- (I am not joking, she told me that).

Many thanks

It sounds alittle picky, Have you got a puzzle, a doll, dressing up, any diverse books because if you do festivals in arts and crafts etc. It alt to be anough.

the recommendations are there to help you improve your practice, why wouldn't you follow them?
Did she specify what sort of toys you need? maybe you have too many plastic toys and not enough natural resources for exploring.
Why would it be a joke to include toys and resources that reflect cultural diversity?
You can get posters that say hello in lots of different languages. Story books, puzzles and dolls should all reflect the mix of cultures we have in this country.
I expect they will look at this aspect of your provision at your next inspection, how elss can they judge if you have improved?

Yes, if she's made recommendations you ought to follow them, or risk being downgraded at your next inspection.

You just have to say how you have addressed the issue. You can hire toys from a toy library, or access a wider range of toys at toddler groups and the childrens centre, or get thousands of books from the library.

All providers are given recommendations at inspections as no one is perfect and we need to reflect and improve prcactice. If you do not act on them it is your prerogative but will be recorded at the next inspection...that is why Ofsted inspects c/ms to ensure good practice. Toys are tools for learning, ask your local early years consultant to help with with advice and support or network with other c/ms in your area
