hi,

my dd and friend ith another dd (9.mo) want to take our daughters out of ft nursery and find a nanny.

with nannies, do you pay them a weekly fee or do you pay more if there is 2 kids? sound dumb i know.

current nursery is extortionately expensive and dd keeps getting ill, so i end up taking time off work

we both live in greenwich, london, so if anyone knows of any good nannies or agencies in london that they can recommend it would be great, just want to get started on the research

i know nannies can be expensive, but current nursery is ....

wait for it....

...one thousand, 2 hundred and 85.00 per month
horror

(sorry about crap typing, keyboard buggered)

i thought if could find a nanny to look after both our dd's in either of our homes... might be nicer and possibly? cheaper????

need someone full time, our jobs not available on pt basis

hope someone can point me in the right direction - just any starting points ould be great

thanks all

I think you two could share a nanny (live out?) and spend less that £1200 each per month. Also, nanny will probably still care for kids when they are sick (but not seriously ill of course). You might start by having a chat with some nannies on nannyjob.co.uk. Pay will vary greatly based on experience, job description, etc.

Pay gross, not net. There is no legal onbilgation to pay net.

Nannies don't usually get an increase for more children, but they would expect a bit more for a nanny share (increased hassle in having two employers, running between two houses, etc.). But you would each expect to pay less than if you each hired your own nanny.

agree with both, agree a Gross Salary, not a NET wage. I am trying to get all nannies to do this, but it will take a long time. I do feel it's better and more professional if nannies salaries are talked about the same as in any other job.

There is another thread on Mumsnet which is about Nanny Shares here which may help with suggestions and also put you in touch with other parents considering a nanny share.
