Weekend childcare?

I am hoping to get a weekend/Saturday job for some me time and to start to establish a bit of a job/career for myself ready for when my DCs are all at school. I'd like to apply for a job in a local estate agent's which is every Saturday.

The only thing is, my DH works some Saturdays; maybe one in 5 or 6. He has to work those Saturdays and doesn't have any say in whether or not he can work them as they are part of his job and absolutely essential to the business of his employer. We don't really have any family members that would be willing to do the childcare on those Saturdays; my parents wouldn't want to do it and although DH's father probably would it would mean a 1 hour round trip for me on the days they were there which would be quite unrealistic if I was starting at 8 or 8.30.

So I was wondering what other possible childcare solutions there might be for weekend childcare? Do some childminders offer weekend care on an adhoc basis? Or would I be better off looking for a babysitter that could come and look after the DCs here?

Many thanks in advance for any advice

I am sure that you will find a student with childcare experience or a nanny who wants/needs some extra income.

I am a CM and I do adhoc weekends, so it's worth asking around.

Realistically you may find you will pay someone as much per hour as you would earn. A childminder would probably charge time and a half per child on a weekend, a nanny wouldn't do it for much less than £10 may be £8 per hour so really your best bet would be a student willing to babysit.

Im a nanny studying to be a teacher and Iwork every weekend 18 hours sat and sun, I think a nanny is your best bet

I'm a cm and I would charge my regular hourly charge, especially as it's only once in a while. So it's worth asking around.

Many nannies including myself do ad-hoc weekend work so perhaps find a couple who you are happy with and then use them as then you have back up if one cant do sat you need, also maybe they will be able to do babysitting for you if needed.

Alternativley local childcare students may be interested in the odd saturday

good luck with job hunt hope you get the job you are after.

I'm a CM and I too am happy to do ad hoc weekends. Definitely ask around.
