I do tend to take a lots of pictures of the children but sometimes it gets repetitif so my question is do you send pictures every day of the stuff they did again and again ?

I take pictures every day. They get highlights in the newsletter once a month. Individual photos go in their learning journeys, which get sent home once a term, when I also send them a summative assessment for the term, with all their photos on.

When the children leave, I often ask their parents for a USB stick to put all their photos on.

Their daily diary goes home every day, but not photos.

I aggree with hsmm. Your permission slip that the parent signs. Tells them where photo's are displayed and kept. That's a good idea hsmm with usb stick, thou.

I do a online digital diary and attach the photos on there. I put as many as 15 photo's on there so they get a round look of their day. But if it's much the same as previous I won't. If there is one or two at least then it is worth it. My parents kind of expect photo's I think unless their child has been asleep alot that is.

If we have a day out or do something new or something the child wants to show the parent I message/email the picture on the day, others go in their file.

Newtothisstuff · 27/04/2012 05:42

God you lot sound great I never got any of that from Dd's old childminder !!! Smile

Bonkerz · 27/04/2012 06:23

I send pictures home every day. I provided the parents with a small photo album so they just pop the pics in when they get home.

Octaviapink · 27/04/2012 07:50

I send a few photos once a month with the invoice - at the end I burn all the photos I've taken to a CD and give them that with the EYFS file.

embot1000 · 27/04/2012 23:04

how on earth do you get time to print photos daily? or upload to website? i stick them in the learning journal weekly (but only linking pics not all!) and when they leave my care i give parents a scrap book and a cd of their childs time here with all pics.
i need more hours if i'm to try to improve this!!!

My CM texts me the odd photo but not very often and only if something special is happening.. I also had a CM years ago that used to email me photos once a week of what he had been doing. My first cm used to print them off and give me copies occasionally (pre digital though so had to wait for film to be processed).

The other cm I have used didn't send me any photos.

Octaviapink · 28/04/2012 06:10

It's still better than most nurseries - we never got any pics of DD when she was at nursery and had no idea about all the EYFS/learning journey stuff they were supposed to be doing.

NoGoodAtHousework · 28/04/2012 06:38

I get a daily diary 'written' by DS which sometimes has photos in. It's a little cheesy but nice. I enjoy reading it of an evening.

Bonkerz · 28/04/2012 07:49

I have a Kodak wireless printer and an app on my iPhone which means I can print pics straight away from my phone (when I'm at home) I print two copies then delete photo from phone!!!!!

LesbianMummy1 · 28/04/2012 12:25

What app do you use bonkerz? that sounds good idea

nickseasterchick · 28/04/2012 12:30

Im not a childminder but cant you just make a 'diary email' every day and send it to parents with photos and brief outline? or are other parents not allowed to see the other childrren?

Riddo · 28/04/2012 13:18

I put photos in the learning journey which I'll give to the parents when their child leaves my care. I occasionally email if a photo if is especially good and will burn a CD of photos again when the child leaves but it's never crossed my mind to provide daily photos - I don't have the time.

5318008 · 28/04/2012 13:42

Riddo do you give the parents the child's learning journey to look at regularly? as part of working with parents, it's way to get written feedback as well as being good practice

wrt time issues, I have a pogo printer, incredibly quick to print, bish bash bosh job done

I don't do daily pics in the diary, perhaps one or two a week

Bonkerz · 28/04/2012 15:28

It's the Kodak one. Specifically for their wireless printers.

Bonkerz · 28/04/2012 15:29

Kodak pic flik

LesbianMummy1 · 28/04/2012 18:02

Thank you

Octaviapink · 29/04/2012 15:23

It is indeed good practice to discuss the learning journeys with parents, get them to sign the book etc - though IME (admittedly not masses) parents are completely clueless about the EYFS stuff and don't care at all. As long as bub has eaten and slept well and had fun they don't care about anything else. Also put off by having to make a special time to do it - most parents I find want to drop off/ pick up as rapidly as possible.
