Ok.. so how do I work out nanny share costs?

Following some great advice here we are going down the nanny route I think. However, another parent with similar aged child to my ds has suggested that we could share. We have dd 3 and ds 1 and she has a ds 1. nanny would come to us 4 days per week 7.30am to 6. We would be the host house and parent would drop off her ds for hours to be roughly 9 - 5.

How do I work out what we should each pay? My dd will go to preschool 3 hrs per day so will be just the two babies for part of the day.

Also any advice for potential sharers?

TIA

Bumping for you Smile

Would the other parent use the nanny on any other days of the week?

Thanks nanny nick! No baby would be here with mine 4 days. Some suggest halving cost but would seem quite expensive for them....?

There was a thread about this a while back and opinion was divided.

IMO you should split the hourly rate 2/3 v 1/3 as you have 2 children and the other family only have 1.

Other people thought you should split it in half as nannies are paid per family not per child.

Based on £10ph I think you should pay the full £10 7.30am - 9am and 5pm-6pm and then split £6.66/£3.33 for the hours 9am-5pm.
As you will always host the share you may want to adjust it slightly so maybe £6/£4.

Your DD going to preschool is irrelevant unless you don't need the nanny to be 'on call' for your DD during those 3 hours. So if you have someone to have her during the school holidays, if she's sick, if the nursery is closed, on inset days etc then you discount your DD when working out how to split the cost. If the nanny is 'on call' then she is still 'looking after' your DD.

Thanks. I thought it would be split three ways as it were else its pretty expensive for the single child family. It seems like it should be adjusted though for host house family. it gives me something to work on...
