I have a 4 month old and have to return to work next week for financial reasons. I am really panicing that it will break the special bond i have with my boy.

Babies develop a bond with their mothers in the first 6 weeks of their life and it continues and develops from then, even when a nanny,cm or nursery comes into their life.

I have worked as a nanny for a very loooong time looking after many children many of them sole charge for up to twelve hours a day from the youngest who are now five to the eldest at 26 non of them had any problems bonding with their mothers and vice versa, children are not silly and definitely know their mum/dad.they are all very close to their parents ,including the chidren I`ve looked after from birth,We are all very good friends but you are your son s mum and nothing will change that bond.

I agree. Having looked after babies, there are no problems with them not forming a relationship with their mum. Babies can accept that there are various caregivers in their lives, you as mum will always remain number 1.

agree with all the others -worked as a sole charge nanny for over 20years and had many babies in my care - all bonded with me and their parents

your son will always know you are his mum

think of his love as an elastic band-he loves you but as he grows so will his love for other people - so the band just expands
