CM Club: Can anyone offer me advice for my outside yard?

My family and I recently moved to our new rented house and while it is lovely and fine inside, the outside has only a paved area to play on.

I considered setting up a corner with some artificial grass of sorts (though I have not looked at the cost of that yet) and also have some part of it covered by some foam matting - not sure what it is called.

What else could I do that is VERY inexpensive, but fun and lovely and child friendly? It is quite a small yard; probably roundabout the size of a netball court.

I have a couple of ride one toys, a few tired bouncy balls, 6 or so bats, balance board, and similar. My outside play area definitely needs improving (and for all of you with filthy minds reading that last sentence - cut it out!! Grin)

Thank you!

I have this www.diy.com/nav/decor/flooring/carpet-carpet-tiles/artificial_grass/Regency-Artificial-Grass-10877563#BVRRWidgetID

and these www.elc.co.uk/12-Recreation-Mats/122892,default,pd.html
If you use the mats lay the flat side downwards otherwise they are slippery when wet. Ours have been down six years and although faded through sunlight & pressure washing still going strong.

artificial surface would be good (no idea what it's called or cost involved)

could you get a few planters for cultivating summat like this?

safety glass mirrors these are acrylic

any good?

Thanks, LesbianMummy1 and DeepThought! I had no idea that the artificial grass would be so reasonably priced. And I LOVE the acrylic mirrors!

Lovely ideas, thanks!
