WHat do you do if you are a cm and your own child has chickenpox? Do you close?

You will certainly have to notify your mindees parents. If your child is really poorly you might not want to be responsible for other children as well.

Would you accept a child with chicken pox. But as bunbaker said ask your parents, they may not mind. If there children haven't had it yet. But you only need to close 5 or 7 days.

When my DD had chicken pox (caught from a mindee) all the mindees came except 1 (young baby who had been premature) and once a fortnight someone else came out in chickenpox. All fine thankfully.

When a mindee had chickenpox it was just before summer and the other parents didn't want her to come because they didn't want to try and get on holiday flights with spotty children. Despite the fact they were all together the week before, no one else caught it.

I take each occurrence as it comes

You would have to stay in if your children/mindees have it, I know a childminder who was reported for going to
Groups etc with children with chicken pox as not everyone wants their children exposed to it.

Quite right south. We were stuck at home for ages

Wow I dealt with this last week.

My son had chicken pox. Informed the parents, giving them the choose if they still wanted their kids to come. One did not come for one day, then came after that.

It was kinna hard as I had to bring my kids out to do the school run. I did keep him from the other kids at school. We ended up waiting outside the gate keeping an eye on the others.

Its what you can manage yourself.

I would not look after cm kids with chicken pox as they need their parents, not me. I would not really be able to contine with my usual routine.

It depends on how you feel pesonally.

MUM2BLESS · 13/03/2012 20:26

sorry had to bring my son out on the school run,

squinker45 · 13/03/2012 20:29

Yes you wouldn't want to go to groups, might be pregnant women etc

My mum is a childminder and was when I had chicken pox many years ago now. I was banned to my bedroom for the whole time, some of the older ones who had had it would come and see me after school. I was left at home on school runs but I was 12 at the time.

If I had been younger then mum would of given the other parents the choice to send their children or not and I would of had to go on the school run but told to stay away from others. Siblings who have it still have to do school runs so I can't see a difference there.
