Any tips? She just screams if I put her down, she wants to be held all the time which is obviously not possible when I've got other children. She's happy and smiley when I'm holding her and never cries on a morning when Mum drops her off so is happy to be here. But my arms feel like they're going to drop off at the end of the day after holding her all day. Mum says she's just the same at home too.

try a sling, pop her in hi chair when you need to be preparing food/activities so that she can see and hear you, what about a treasure basket

chat chat chat for reassurance when you go out of view (loo trips with the older ones for eg)

it IS a phase, it WILL pass, go with the flow, think of your bingo wings VANISHING and just in time for summer, hurrah [channels Pollyanna]

BoysAreLikeDogs · 05/03/2012 11:13

ooh, not saying you HAVE bingo wings, mind Blush

You have other children, you can't carry her all day. It's her mothers fault, you need to work with her mother. This will continue and she will get heavier.
Sit her on the floor, between your legs, then at the side of you, then 2" away, then act that you need to get something, then come back within 2 min, then extend this time. She needs to extend her physical development, so she will crawl and walk. It's a diffcult one, especiaally when she's so gorgeous when she smiles.

Have pretty much tried all of that except the sling idea so might give that a try. It is hard when she's so gorgeous! Very tempting so sit cuddling her all say!

your local toy and equipment library might have slings to borrow (assuming your local authority still has one, what with all the cuts, our TL is now run by us CMs as a volunteer service, sigh)

Or ask on Slings on here for advice on which might be best for your needs. I know that you can claim back cost of a sling but you could avoid pitfalls/wasting money, yes?

BoysAreLikeDogs · 05/03/2012 12:08

slings topic

Smile terribly hard to find so I did a bit of digging for you x

littlewillows · 05/03/2012 13:06

Won't a sling still give you back ache, I couldn't continually carry a 7 month baby. Although I would probably carry her, but it can continue until their walking. I would have to keep at the settling procedure until it worked.

Thanks Boysarelikedogs, will have a look at that
You might be right littlewillows, it may mean I end up with back ache instead of arm ache. She's big for her age. Will have a think about that one! Maybe I can alternate between holding her in my arms and the sling
