nannie/childminder to look after children in my home for one day!!

I don't know if this is the right place to ask, but I have a question.

My cousin is getting married in September and they have a no children rule so we need someone to look after our 6 and 4 yr old for the day, as well as my cousins child who will be just over a yr. The wedding is local to me 20 mins drive but we were wondering if there is any sort of child care professional we could hire for the day to look after the 3 kids in my home. We are a bit stuck as obviously all my family are going to be at the wedding so apart from my hubby looking after the kids and missing the wedding we can't think of any other option!!! Just wondered if this is a thing that qualified nannies/ childminders do, as it would be on a saturday and just for a one off. Thanks x

Could anyone in your DH's family help?
Certain;y for the 1yo I'd want them to get used to someone a bit before being left all day with them

peppajay · 02/03/2012 18:44

Unfortunately all DH's family are 50 miles away. My cousin is desperate to come over from France to our other cousins wedding and the nanny in the home thing was the only way we could think of it to work apart from the hubbys looking after the kids, which is a very viable option!!!

Yes nannies will do it - try contacting an agency? I've had someone look after DS when he was about 18 months although was only a few hours and I was in the house (just had a teleconference).

HSMM · 02/03/2012 18:54

One of your local CMs might do it. I did all weekend for one of my mindees so his parents could go to a wedding, but the child knew me well. Maybe you could ask one of their school or preschool staff?

headfairy · 02/03/2012 18:55

I've had a similar thing from an agency... emergency nanny care isn't particularly cheap, but if it's for a one off and you're sharing costs it isn't so bad.

Hi where abouts are you, I am a nanny and do this kind of one of work both at family homes and hotels, sure other nannies on here do to and someone may be able to help out.

An0therName · 02/03/2012 20:33

sitter.co.uk might do it - or a nanny agencey - or sometimes people who work at day nursery do extra work

DCSsunhill · 02/03/2012 20:36

Sitters will do it, and for a good price. They sorted me out with a days' childcare when my children were on an inset day.

peppajay · 02/03/2012 21:30

Thanks for all your replies think I will look at prices from an agency or maybe see if any of my sons pre school staff would like to do it.

lots of nannies would do that type of work

lesstalkmoreaction · 03/03/2012 13:33

I do this type of work in the cotswolds so if youre anywhere near, i'm happy to help.

ronx · 03/03/2012 13:43

Sitters sorted me out with emergency daycare when I needed someone to look after my DD when I had a last-minute job interview. The price was far more reasonable than I expected at £6.75 an hour.

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/03/2012 15:01

i do this a lot - either at the venue (if children are allowed) or at parents houses

what area are you in?

Simplyme · 03/03/2012 18:51

Lots of nannies on here do this, if you tell us what area you are in someone might offer to help out.
