My nanny is starting full time this week. Do you think it would be cheeky to ask her to stay in Tuesday morning and wait for the washing machine repair man to come. I don't want to take advantage especially as it is week one. Do you think I could ask ?

Good grief, if someone has a problem with doing this during their working hours then they are in the wrong job. Of course she should stay in that morning. You are asking her to do it, it is not unreasonable, and given that she needs this equipment herself in order to do the children's washing, it's necessary for her too. May I politely say I think growing some female testicles may make your future status as a MumBoss somewhat easier in the future. Wink

Has this approach always worked for you then BoffinMum?

I'm a bit puzzled by this thread - the OP appears to be a new employer finding his or her way in this difficult and responsible role. Sensibly, he is asking for others opinions on what may and may not be reasonable. Never has it been suggested that she thought that the nanny may have a problem with this, but many of the replies assume that this is the case.

Eastnorth, if you continue to take care to think about how your wishes as an employer impact on your employee then you deserve to have a long and successful, professional, relationship.

Well, put it this way, I would be quite happy to ask someone to stay home for this, but actually the usually offer because obv everyone wants the bloody machine working, after all.

Thanks MrAnchovy you bothered to read my post. I was only asking an opinion I want things with my nanny to work and hopefully I can do this without dictating, I read a lot of things on here where people do take advantage of their nanny and do not want to do the same without realising it.

Boffinmum I don't want to grow testicles and be known as mumboss I do not need the ego title thanks, obviously you do.
