Does anyone know of a childminder who lives Farnborough way, the trouble we have is we need a childminder who would be able to pick the child up
Currently the baby who is 1 is at a sure start centre 2 afternoons a week but its very busy there and were thinking more about a childminder so its quieter for her, she does seem to stress out when its so packed. Im not being lazy im doing a open uni course and need study time i am also suffering with pnd :( whilst writting this does anyone know if i am entitled to any help we are on a very low income and i dont work.Huge thanks in advance

Have you asked at the surestart centre? Not sure which one you are going to and it's been a while since I last went there (just looked it up, it was 2007) so I don't know current management (is it still Chris?) but they may know some childminders who use the centre and could ask them if they ever take on clients who need collecting/taking home.

The surestart centre I think also used to have advice sessions for those on low incomes, english as second language, that sort of thing... so again it's possibly a place to ask. If they can't help you, then they may pass you on to the Citizens Advice Bureau or to a local charity that provides advice.
Adult Learning - Financial Help for Adult Learners could be a starting point for basic info about Discretionary Learner Support. I don't know if it would apply for Open University courses though.

Depending on your circumstances, you may get some funding towards course fees, if you are already entitled to things like: income support, housing benefit (including local housing allowance), council tax benefit. Try using the Eligibility Checker on the OU website. If you are eligible, then Access to Learning Fund could be used towards childcare. Access to Learning Fund - Open University (PDF)

If you want to email some childminders tonight, then you can get a list of some of those near you by using the Childcare Search - By postcode & Range and entering your full postcode, such as GU14 8LH and say entering 1 in the mileage box.

Do you really need someone who can pick up? I feel that will limit your choices a lot. If you find a childminder who is very near you, could you not take your DD (mumsnet acronym for daughter) to the childminders then return home to study?

Are you near Hawley Lane area? Camberley Childminder (Tricia) is just off Hawley Lane I think. Looking at her website, no vacancies for every day of the week but has some part-time availability, so that might suit you. Worth a try, if you are that end of Farnborough.
