Potty training mindee had ten "accidents" yesterday - HELP!!

Mindee is 3 and a bit. Been potty training since Christmas. Insists on pooing in pants but is normally OK weeing in potty with one or two accidents. However on Fridays she just wees anywhere.

I've tried giving her more attention, a star chart, lots of verbal encouragement and "you're a big girl now" type conversations.

At nursery and home she has less accidents and is fine here on her other CM day, it's just Fridays. I also have another three year old here on Fridays who is fine using the loo. The two of them get on really well and play happily together.

I've tried asking her/ making her try every 20 mins but nothing works and after three wet patches on my rug yesterday I'm running out of ideas. All suggestion gratefully received Smile

Is she on her own with you on the other day/s and Friday is the only day she shares your attention? Just wondering if it is an attention seeking thing? I'd be tempted to give her loads of attention for everything else she does and really lay off the potty training as being an issue. Just change her if she's wet without really discussing it, talking about something else, or to the other child as you do it, then get her really involved in something when she's dry and happy.
My dd2 was a nightmare to potty train and in the end, when I effectively gave up talking about it and trying to do anything about it, she chose to stay dry.
I don;t think it is too early or that you should put her back in nappies or anything, as she's capable of doing it on other days....

I'd be suggesting pull-ups on Fridays then. Bt still remind them to wee etc as before.

10 accidents is a lot for you to be cleaning up!

I use them when we're out and about (every AM) until children are reliably trained - and at odd times after that when its appropriate.

Thankyou both for replying.

She has to share me with a baby on the other day and with her brother after school.

I think it is possibly a mixture of attention seeking and competition with other mindee who is slightly older and mentions that fact alot! I do give a lot of positive attention the rest of the time but she only gets one to one when she's wet herself.

I think I'll try making the change into clean clothes as boring and as speedy as possible and I might roll my rug up on Fridays Smile

yes, totally make changing/clearing up as boring and uneventful as you can

rolling up rug a good idea

make sure that you have fireworks, cartwheels and bunting (metaphorically speaking) for attempting the potty - success is almost immaterial at this point, what you are aiming for is having a go (you know all this anyway)

Thanks Boys Grin. I do know it, I think I just needed a rant. The other mindee had three wet pants (enough for a change of clothes but not all over the floor), I think she thought it was competition.

Had big discussion about it with mindees' mum yesterday. We are pulling out the big guns - ie pink smarties!
