Could have posted this under a few topics.

Has only been at childminders 1 week so still early days but...

...not drinking any ebm and keeping mouth shut for food after a few teaspoons. Not keen on water either. I can tell the cm is getting a bit anxious. I'm trying to be breezy and "Oh she will when she's ready" but I'm getting a bit anxious as well.

Any tips/advice?

How old is she Tinks? Could you try finger food?

WideWebWitch · 27/01/2006 13:30

Is she eating when she's with you?

Tinker · 27/01/2006 13:34

She's 8 months now. Has a mixture of finger food and mashed up stuff. Not she's not crazy about food when she's here but will eat more than she seems to be eating at cm's. Last 2 evenings has been positivley hungry though (no wonder!)

She'll wolf down banana and yogurt but surely she can't just have that every day??

Its tricky food and babies it could be a million things. The timing of meals, excitement, distraction, food too hot, too cold, unfamiliarity. 1 week is early days and the advice I was always given was babies never starve themselves.

Tinker · 27/01/2006 14:13

Hmm, I'm clinging to teh won't starve herself bit but...she needs to take something more than she's ahving atm. Wouldn't worry too much about the food if having teh milk but not even doing that...

This sort of problem is really upsetting for childminders as well as parents, but a week is still very early to be really worried, and I agree with the not starving themselves bit. Give it a little longer.

Tinker - shes probably actually getting quite a nutritious range from banana and yoghurt certainly carbohydrates, calcium, protein, fats all in there. when I was doing my nurse training I went out with Health Visitor we came across babies living off breadsticks, jam sandwiches and sweetened drinks in a cup!
