Approx. pay rate for a nanny in Surrey/Outer SW London?

Hi

A friend and I who both have just had babies are considering whether a nanny share might be a viable alternative to nursery - but have no idea what the pay rates for nannies are so don't know whether financially it's an option for us. Anyone got any rough idea of what the rate of pay would be for a live-out nanny to look after two 6 month old babies?

Thx

A nannyshare is typically a higher salary than a nanny working for just one family.
Inside the M25 is typically higher than outside the M25.
So assuming you are inside the M25 and assuming you want someone who is experienced in babycare, then you could be easily talking £12 gross per hour.
Hourly figures are not that much help though... best to work out annual cost. What would the hours of work be? How many days per week? Would they need to work any bank/public holidays?

Not a nannyshare, but I live and work in Kenley (London Surrey boarder) and get 375£ net a week live-in. I look after one baby 50h a week.

Thanks both - that's helpful.

We're inside the M25, it would be 5 days per week and wouldn't require any public hol/weekend work. 50h a week. Live out.

Hiya.. I wld work figures on a rough budget of 12 to 15 per hour, gross.

There are some incidentals too, like who's car the nanny is insured on, who's house she is at, food she eats etc. Also which holiday she ties in with, what she does if one baby is ill, etc.

It is workable between friends but it probably needs a lot of planning x

Nannyshares cost a bit more than having a nanny to yourself but the cost is split between the two families involved in the share. How that split is done will vary from family to family. example search may be a good place to start looking at old message threads about nannyshare pay, to get a feel for what other families have done with regard to the splitting of the cost, plus various issues that may occur.

If you do not require public/bank holiday working you will need to state that clearly to the nanny, as you would be expecting them to take part of their annual leave on those dates.
