Sort of like this

I am worried it looks too institutional; & is it safe?

I don't think underfloor heating would effect whether or not you would get a draft tbh.

Personally I love the bunk cots though so no worries from me about being cold/drafty

Katie obviously ur setting us fantastic, do what's best for u and your setting, obviously you put the children's needs at a high priority which also have to fit with your house/ family.

If parents don't like it they can do other thing. And bet they don't

Fraktal · 11/02/2012 19:43

I love them. Go for it.

KatyMac · 11/02/2012 19:51

Well we are full and we regularly have enquiries from both children and people who want to work for us; so we must be doing something right Wink. But I don't want to spoil it or make people unhappy or not use us.

I will talk it out with my ladies next week and if they approve, with my parents maybe after half-term

Really we need to expand but we can't

I would have had no problem with them at all. I would like the fact that the CM have their own seperate area of the house.

seeker · 12/02/2012 06:54

Still amused at people worrying about drafts!

peggyblackett · 12/02/2012 07:06

KM, I think they're great. It wouldn't bother me at all as a parent, and no concerns over drafts either Wink seeker

leeloo1 · 12/02/2012 10:28

I think they look expensive great. I wouldn't mind which version you had - possibly get a combination of cot/cot and toddler bed/cot ones for variety?

I don't see why you'd need to 'consult' with parents? Tell them you're upgrading your sleeping facilities, so each child will have a proper mattress etc (as I assume these do?) and they will be pleased and impressed. Grin

Definitely agree you and your family need their own space.

alibubbles · 12/02/2012 13:48

I saw them at Nursery World exhibition, I am afraid to say katymac, they are very cage like! Great idea, when I saw them in a catalogue, but in real life they are a bit scary!

RitaMorgan · 12/02/2012 15:58

Well, cots are cage like so I wouldn't worry about that.

At my ds's nursery the crawlers/toddlers sleep in big wicker dog baskets Grin

bbcessex · 12/02/2012 19:35

I like them, think they're ideal for childcare settings. I'd consider using them at home too if I had a toddler and a baby in the same room.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 12/02/2012 19:45

All cots are cage like though arnt they.

KatyM I say go for it. They look ideal.

fudgesmummy · 13/02/2012 21:54

I think they look fab!!!! I wish I had enough room in my setting to have them! do you have a web site katym? I would love to have a look at your set up [nosey emotion]

pooka · 13/02/2012 22:08

As a parent I would be happy with the set up. In fat I was wishing that I'd seen them before as would have made an excellent cot/toddler bed for ds2 only he's in a normal bed now. Shame.

ElizabethDarcy · 14/02/2012 07:21

As a CM I am lucky to have a room just for sleeping mindees. I have 3 x Mamas and Papas travel cots. If I had less room I would consider this.

nannyl · 14/02/2012 08:42

I saw them in the flesh at the baby show

i would have no problems with my baby using them at a CM or a nursery, or anywhere else they needed to nap.

If they were a climber they could go in the bottom.... many nurserys only use sleep mats anyway so they would be more contained in that than just on a mat on the floor.

they are quite small so i doubt a baby small enough to fit in would be physically able enough to climb out

nannyl · 14/02/2012 08:43

I agree.... that all cots are like being in a cage

these are just slightly smaller versions of the same "cage"

eastnorth · 14/02/2012 13:32

If I saw those cots stacked up I think you are making it look more like a nursery would not consider it.

KatyMac · 14/02/2012 22:29

We are actually a little nursery/big childminding....we have 9 under 5s every day

Thanks for everyone's thoughts I am discussing this with parents now
