Would you charge extra for 12 month old twins? I am a nanny and just wondering if I should charge my normal rate or not as although I have experience working with twins it was always proxy parenting for the same family and they offered my a very good rate.

So I am just wondering if you would charge extra and if so how much extra thanks

No. A nanny gets paid per family, not per child.

I have looked after 3 sets of twins. Also had a nanny share with a three and four month old, so practically twins.

Basically, you say how much you would like to earn, family says how much they are willing to pay and then you compromise, depending how much you want the job and they want you.

I love looking after twins, and if you get them into a good routine, I find they are actually easier than one, for a start, they don't suffer separation anxiety as they are generally never alone! You can go to the loo (providing you know they are safe!) cook without having them under your feet etc etc, because they have their brother or sister in the play/sitting room with them (all three houses I worked in, the play/sitting room was next to the kitchen so I could hear everything that was going on and pop my head around the door every few minutes to make sure they weren't smothering each other! We had stair gates across the door so they couldn't get under my feet) they never fretted because they were left. At least not as babies, when they got to about 18 months they just wanted out because I was out, not because they were on their own.

I am on my third set of twins also,as Caillard says we are paid per family not generally more for twins.

Nannies don't charge. Nannies agree to do the job at the salary being offered by the employer. So you either agree to do the job for the salary on offer, or you don't. You could try to negotiate it but nannies are not paid per child. Twins entertain each other, maybe you could say it's easier than looking after one child!
