How long do I exclude mindee?

One of my mindee has been to the drs and told she has tonsillitis, started medicine Wed night. Usually comes to me Thur and Fri, not coming today but Mum will see how her child feels. How long should I exclude. Worrying my DS may get it if she comes back too soon. Thanks in advance.

The HPA guidance here says no exclusion for tonsilitis, but you may have your own policies which say something different?

tonsilitus isnt contagious.

KatyMac · 26/01/2012 08:21

Some childminders exclude for 24 or 48 hours after the first dose on anti-biotics in case of allergy

I don't tho'

It would depend if it were viral or bacterial tonsillitis.

Sorry that was to Dita

ah I must always have bacterial then as doc always told me not and noone else ever catches it off me. (sorry for being absolutly no help at all to op)

Thank you for your responses. I finally got through to a doctor to find an answer and was told that it is contagious for 48 hours after starting meds, there is no guarantee to not catch it after that if the virus is still there but generally 48 hours.
