I have

moogster1a · 19/01/2012 12:52

it is a legal requirement BUT I've not done it as it's a cmplete waste of money. I just had my inspection and she didn't mention it.
If for some bizarre reason "they" ever pull me up about it, I'll just pretend it's the first I've heard about it. Apparently, they just make you pay from then, so each year I get away with it is a bonus. ( robbing b*!)

looneytune · 19/01/2012 13:03

I have as it's a legal requirement but agree it's a total waste of money, being named on a register does not protect information whatsoever!!!

didnt know I needed to do this so will stay in that space..

ImNotScared · 19/01/2012 14:16

I have but can't say I was too pleased about having to do it. I was told that some Ofsted inspectors are checking them now.

lisa1968 · 19/01/2012 20:31

as i understand it,you only need to fill one out if you send photos and childrens/families details to their family members via the internet.....I've never been asked for one and certainly dont plan on filling one in or pay for the privilage !!

south345 · 19/01/2012 20:35

You need to do it if you store info on your computer or any form of digital camera, phone etc, I haven't done it though, will pretend I didn't know too

vicki2010 · 19/01/2012 21:27

well i have put it off as i haven't actually been informed by anyone official that we need it but am due inspection and have many friends who are childminders who say i should have it but yes what a complete load of old tosh i mean why the hell should we have to pay for the privilege of having pictures of other people's children that we must have for observations etc..we pay our reg fee and everything else that goes with it i think its such a con!! but it will be going down as an expense which i otherwise would have given the tax man..... what the hell does the payment go to anyway?? anyone know

Hi I paid my £35 fee this month. The fines could be heavy if you do not.

What are the benefits once you register?

I know some childminders have not. I cant afford to take any changes.

Not much is really said about the ICO and childminders registering.

PositiveOutlook · 20/01/2012 13:22

As far as I am aware you only need to register if you hold photos/information digitally (on your computer/laptop/phone), I don't. I print the pictures to put in eyfs folder and then delete them.
