Is there anyone who minds helping me out on how much they charge/pay in Hertford or surrounding for a childminder???
I'm a NNEB Nanny already with 8yrs experience but going through the process of becoming a minder,as i've recently had a baby myself. I have been approached by my neighbour who would be interested in me caring for their child. They have mentioned a rate but i'd like to see others point of view.
The hours for their one child will be
Mon-Fri 8-5....

Hi kkey big apologises for not returning you last call, no ill feelings and pleased to see you are getting things sorted. We finally found someone (similar situation to you, simply more local). Hope you and little ds (won't put his name as most people on here like things to not be made public) are doing well. I have settled back into work pretty well and the children seem to cope without me ok. As for your question, the one we used (in w**e) to use charges £3.75 an hour per child (extra for fuel for school pick-ups, nothing whilst she was on holiday, 1/2 for ours if it didn't coincide with hers, thena ny extras for outings etc, which were arranged in advance) HTH.

Hi! Thank you so much for your msg, i am sorry it didn't work on the Mondays. I really loved the children and think they are extremely cute!! I am going through a real difficult decision as i have been offered 2 nanny positions, one 2 days, one 4 days but 30mins away from home with 7.45 starts..I realised that getting my little man into the car ready in the mornings and being at work by those times will be a real challenge!! So i am going through the process of registering to childmind, whether i chicken out after registering is another matter...! So if you do relocate to this area, or near then please contact me as you are a lovely family!! I felt very bad after meeting you twice, coming to the conclusion that it was too far, i just didn't want to start to then let you down....I hope we can stay in touch! lovely to see you on here again, good luck with your nanny!! And thank you for advice!! xx

Why would you chicken out? Surely after your wealth of experience as a nanny you can cope with being a childminder. As long as your property is ok etc from what I got back from your references I don't see any probs at all. And as I'm finding out swapping from a childminder to a nanny not having to get the kid/s out the house etc in the morning does have major advantages.

The children side of childminding will be fantastic, but i have only ever nannied so its a completely new thing! I think working from my home would be great and i only intend to keep my numbers low so it is enjoyable rather than too full on! As for my house, i'm sure it would be fine, size wise is great and its very child friendly already! I think its a complete change, but i'm sure i'll be fine!
My neighbour is very interested so that gives me the incentive to go ahead with it...x

According to a friend, the going rate in Stevenage is around £3.75, no personal experience though.
