Had to send a child home yesterday because of runny nappies, got so bad that it was leaking and another child got it on their clothes. Child turned up this morning (its his 2nd birthday) and has had no runny nappies since he left mine, they phoned doctor who said it was his teeth. Since 8am i have had 2 runny nappies.
Next child turns up aged 9 parents dont get out of car ever they just send her up the path, child said she been sick, phoned mum who said yes she been sick all night and they will pick up at one just let her lie on sofa away from babies
Ffs if i am ill on sunday these parents wont gaf so cross at myself and parents

Xmas Shock I'm fuming on your behalf! How fucking inconsiderate! I'd be ringing both parents and demanding they came and picked up their kids. Why the hell should you and your family end up being ill due to their lack of consideration?! If you had loads of family needing childminders in your area, I'd give them notice to. That'd learn 'em! Xmas Grin

Sorry for swearing. Xmas Blush I'm still outraged for you though. Xmas Grin

awful dmo

I would actually give notice [harsh]

south345 · 22/12/2011 12:54

The one from yesterday would have been excluded from my setting til he was clear for 48 hours and I think I'd give the sick one notice if they're that inconsiderate hope you don't all catch it for Xmas!

Do you have a sickness policy? If not you really need one!

MaryPoppinsMagic · 22/12/2011 13:09

Oh this is my biggest bug bear, I had a child start at the end of november and he had an ear infection on his 2nd week I felt bad saying he couldn't come so just got on with it and then the week after dd got an ear infection then last week he had a stinking cold again I just got on with it and since then I've had a stinker of a cold and its sitting heavily on my chest I'm hoping I feel better by the weekend..

Kicking myself for not making them pick him up now! I know exactly how you feel - it annoys me we go over the terms and parents agree then go ahead sending sick children anyway!

pollywollyhadadollycalledmolly · 22/12/2011 14:25

Don't you have an exclusion period for d&v? I do 48 hours since the last bout of sickness or diahorea, same as nurseries, schools etc

That's not accecptable

south345 · 22/12/2011 14:28

If another parent found out you could get into trouble if they reported you to ofsted, part of the eyfs says you should safeguard the health of the children in your care, think you need to be firm from now on.

I do have a sick policy but was told that it wasnt a bug just teething

Any diahorrea or sickness should be excluded regardless of what the parent says not saying your parents are lying but they could not, worth the risk to me.

I've got some sympathy with the parents of the "teething" baby as my two both tended to go like that when teething and if they were otherwise well (eating, no temp, not sick) my CM would happily have them but the parents of the 9 year old are out of order. Sick all night at 9 is definately ill and you should not have to have her. Fingers crossed for you staying well. xx
