one of the little darlings has just deliberately broke one of the seatbelts on my new car, " because he felt like it" It wont roll back up at all cos he was swinging on it. Hopefully it can get fixed under warranty cos ive only had it a couple of weeks, or maybe my liabilty insutance would cover it I dont know and im off to sit in the corner and cry, after ive written their termination of contract letter. Then once ive got rid of them I can concentrate on the other children who i genuinly like. Oh hes 5 1/2 yrs old and knew what he was doing, it wasnt a n accident. Rants over and im off to start potty training now

oops sorry kizzypie I posted earlier and didn't acknowledge you please accept my apology .

I had a 5yr old that I had to terminate contract with, was disrupting everything and when he hit the baby I looked after then well that was the last straw. Its ashame when these thing happen and I hope things turn out well for you, like agalch said try not to get stressed and let us know how you get on

hellloooo, ive calmed down now, Its not extreme as ive been having problems with them for a while, but unless youd seen the other threads it would look like im just overreacting.
It turns out that the garage I bought the car from will do the work under warranty as ive not had the car long so I just need to find time to take it. and I told their mother and she was very apologetic but her answer is to batter the life out the children, you can see where the children get there attitude from. Anyway I dont want to give up the money I get from them so while I was telling her what had happened ( I phoned her to get it over and done with) I told her my hourly fee was increasing as her contract was due to get reviewed and shes agreed to put the hourly rate up by £1.50 an hour so shell be paying £6.50 instead of £5.00 an hour . That kind of swung me on whether id keep them or not. I think shes desperate cos no other cm about here will take them (theyve had a few already.) Ill leave the final decision till im due to take them back on April after maternity leave. Until then Ill try and fill their spaces before i get rid of them. Thankyou for reading my moans.

kizzypie, I know you don't want to lose the money but I think you should go with your gut and end your involvement with this family. You said in your first post you could then concentrate on the children you genuinely like. I think it's so sad for this child that he stays with someone who doesn't actually like him. He's bound to have picked up on this and it must be miserable for him.

I'm not blaming you for not liking him, some kids aren't likeable are they! but I really think it might be better for him to have a fresh start somewhere else - he can't make that choice as he is powerless in this situation, but you can make the choice for him - unless you feel you have it in you to give him a genuine 'clean slate' then I think it's unfair to carry on. You're then treating him purely as a cash transaction, not a human being! I re-iterate that I don't blame you at all as he sounds quite un-likeable, but is this going to get better???

As part of the contract review, you could emphasise your disappointment in the child's behaviour and make it clear that this is a "last chance" situation. Set a deadline with the parent & say that if there are any further incidents you will have to give notice.

If you do your own contracts you could also add something along the lines of "the parent/guardian agrees to pay the full costs of replacing/repairing any item wilfully damaged by my child."

mothers said she will pay for the seatbelt and any other damage they cause, she seems a bit embarrassed. She also said shed understand if I terminated the contract (she mentioned it before i got a chance too). hhmmm Ive agreed to keep them till I finish in Feb and we'll discuss it before Im due to take them back although for everyones sake I cant see them coming back. Its always so much easier to know what to tell other people to do but as soon as I have to decide for myself I never know what to do for the best.

thanks

I would also remember kizzypie that you will have a new baby to look after as well as yourself and the rest of your family. I found it hard work minding after i had my dd.I went back to work when she was 6 months old and i could not have coped with or been bothered with horrible kids.it's hard enough when you have nice kids to mind.

just want to say good luck with the new baby, i've got a 15 week old and she's adorable although i completely forgot how hard sleep deprivation can be! {whispers i must recommend GF my baby follows that routine and goes to bed at 7pm and is an angel and she is almost sleeping through, she wakes but more out of habit im hoping she will stop that soon}

How long will you have off kizzypie? Do you know you can have up to 24 weeks off with the maternity allowance? Think it's about 106 per week.Might be better than having to deal with a kid who cant behave.

Im going to have 3 months off and start back part time. definately getting rid of other 2. i regularly check that parents and children are happy here and in the hols they come to me through their choice as they have relatives and their mothers friends who offer to take them but they always say they want to come to me, so the children cant feel that unliked. I treat them all equally.
thanks lovemygirls I hope this baby is as settled as yours sounds.
i was just having a moan here cos it meant I could get on with the day calmly.
Ive already got my maternity allowance claim in so its just a matter of time.

Glad you are feeling a bit better kizzypie. try not to stress too much.If you are deffo not having the other two back just be cool!! Do what i did and make a calender just for them and cross off the days.You are obviously a great minder and your mindees think so too so don't worry about one family,we've all had them unfortunatly.
