I'm currently a SAHM although want to go back to work in some capacity relatively soon - took redundancy after mat leave in order to reconsider what I want from my career and to be at home a bit more with my DCs. 3yo is at preschool/nursery 5 mornings a week and 14mo is at nursery with him 2 mornings a week although we currently pay for full days for those 2 days so that I have flexibility for job interviews etc.
I have just been offered the chance of a contract with my old company for approx 6-8 weeks starting mid Jan. Short term contracting could be a good way forward for me - lucrative, and keep me ticking over but give me plenty of time between contracts at home with DCs and eventually allow me to work term time only - and this is a contract that would be really interesting.
It would be full time hours, but given the nature of the work, I could probably work a certain amount of hours outside normal office hours if necessary. I would also be working mainly from home (occasional meeting in the office)
I don't want to disrupt DS too much but could up his nursery and preschool hours to almost full time if necessary. I am not overly keen on the baby being in nursery full time. Any thoughts on short term nannying? Any other suggestions?
Am i crazy to consider this? I'm looking for advice really on how to manage a short term change to children's childcare routine and what some of my options might be. Anyone done similar?
Thanks
