CMs - what do your mindees sleep in/on?

I'm newly qualified and got my first one starting in January - just wondering whether to buy a travel cot for mindee(s) or whether to look for the gym-mat type bed that nurseries use. I've also visited a nursery that used enormous dog beds for the children - wicker ones, they looked really cosy! What do you do?

I have 4 little ones - 7 months, 18, 19 and 20 months and 3 of them sleep in travel cots upstairs. Each have their own linen. The 19 month old refuses to sleep in a cot and always has done since he was 9 months old. He sleeps in a pushchair in the kitchen, which his mother's knowledge and agreement.

HTH.

I use a travel cot with a proper mattress. As a parent I wouldn't really want my child sleeping on one of those gym mats. I recently took on a second baby and was going to buy a second travel cot. Then dd decided to stop taking naps so I just use her cotbed with clean bedding. Works well for me Smile

The baskets sound nice but I assume they can't be folded away if needed!

I have 3 little ones aged 17mnths, 19mnths and 21mnths. The youngest has always slept in a battery powered rocker/swing as she has not learnt to self soothe. I have a cot I use when I have one of the other babies and a travel cot to use when I have all 3. Each child has their own sleeping bag style blanket.

All 3 will happily sleep in the buggy when out and I have permission from parents to leave a child to sleep in the buggy if he or she is still asleep when we get home.

the 2 babies have a travel cot each (and own bedlinen and grobags) and the toddler has a ready bed (just for him)

I too have permission to leaving sleeping babies in buggies so they are occasionally left in there to sleep if they fall asleep whilst being out and about

My mindees have all detested the travel cot although my own children were happy enough in it. They all sleep in their buggys (with the seat laid back flat) as they do at home. The parents are all quite happy about it and I feel I can keep a closer eye on them.

I use Mama and Papa's travel cots (3)... the mattresses are fine for the 1.5 hours max they sleep on it in a day, in a gro bag. For sleeping overnight I would certainly get a better mattress, if I had overnight mindees.

for me travel cots take up far too much room and are heavy to set up and put away at the end of the day, dont want my house to look like a nursery all the time.

I have a huge old low sofa in the playroom that toddlers cuddle up on and also buggy sleeps for littlies, parents fine with this, have ready beds as well if needed.

Thanks very much all. I guess I will have to go with a travel cot (I agree with thebody, I was hoping to find something that meant the house didn't look like a nursery all the time).

Hi, I have 4 travel cots! Luckily I have big wardrobes to hide them away when not minding but It is important for little ones to have a proper sleep in the day and my mums are all very happy knowing their child has the comfort and familarirty of 'their' bed at my house.
